Salary: to £44,000 doe + benefits
Purpose of the Role:
Integration Specialist will work across all aspects of the business covering release testing, deployment, support and upgrades. Staff will be designated an area of business, whether Deployment or Support (including QA and upgrades) but will be expected to work across other areas of team responsibility when required to support the needs of the business.
Responsibilities:
Support deployments through a detailed knowledge of the HL7 and its use to support NHS workflows
Lead the Integration Workstream on deployment projects reporting into the project manager
Liaise with other project workstreams, where interdependencies exist, to ensure that decisions taken support the integration deliverables. Feed the decision taken within the workstream back into these other groups
Provide regular status reports to identified staff to ensure continued tracking of workstream progress
Record and track issues relating to the Integration Workstream and escalate to project staff where appropriate. Provide issue resolution and alternative solution paths.
Provide/support client with appropriate documentation/templates e.g. integration strategy, HL7 specification, “to be” integration architecture, workstream plan, gap analysis document etc
Working with the client, undertake a gap analysis exercise to identify and ensure the current messaging sets can absorb all current /future operational procedures and data requirements
Where gaps have been identified raise change request notices and report back to project on progress
Working with the client, undertake “as is” and “to be” workshops to identify work required implementing solution being deployed.
Work with the client to identify and document the requirements around any 3rd party interoperability to be delivered within the scope of the project
Support the client in the development of their “to be” architecture. Where the client is responsible for this delivery of this architecture, manage and assist in the delivery of these interfaces
Where required develop interfaces using a range of industry standard Interface Engines (e.g. Rhapsody and Ensemble)
Support unit and end-to-end testing of interfaces
Support the testing of new and maintenance product solution releases
Identify, investigate and where appropriate escalate software issues and assist with resolution
Assist with integration solution testing to ensure fit for purpose and go live
Support of interfaces:
Rhapsody Trust Interface Engines (TIEs)
Proxima MSH Choose and Book gateway
eClipse Maternity interface engine, Rhapsody
Any other interfaces as required
Support for Upgrades / Patches once the project has moved from Deployment into Support
Ensuring ITIL Process is followed for all Incidents
Ensuring regular and timely updates are made to the customer / other internal teams via the issue
management tool
Provision of Out of Hours/On Call Service as required by the Business
Develop/Enhance new interfaces for Rhapsody
QA of interface functionality in the client’s products
Incident management and problem management, making use of proactive monitoring tools to provide early warning and resolution of issues.
Person Specification:
Experience working in or for the NHS
Thorough understanding of the use of Interfaces and HL7 to support workflows within the NHS
An in-depth knowledge of Healthcare Information Systems
An understanding of APIs and securing data exchange over wide area networks
Extensive hands on experience of interfacing both modern and legacy systems using one or more of the following commercial interface engines:
Ensemble
BizTalk
Rhapsody
Knowledge of one or more of the following types of interfaces is required:
Single way real-time MPI feed (from PAS to departmental system)
Bi-directional real-time MPI feed (between PAS and a departmental system)
Realtime transactional interface (e.g. Query/response such as a Patient Name Search)
Remote ADT’s (from a departmental system to a PAS)
Test requesting / Ordering
Pathology/Radiology Results reporting
PACS
Understanding of the concepts of interoperability and single sign-on
Understanding of the importance of the data collection and reporting required by central government to record NHS activity
A successful and proven track record in working to tight deadlines in a busy challenging environment
Experience of dealing with clients and prioritising the outstanding tasks
Skills Required:
Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both orally and in writing
Must have proven skills in developing End user and Technical Interface Specification Documents
Must understand the issues regarding interfacing of disparate systems together (e.g. code translations, data mappings, unique patient identifiers, multi-identifiers, etc)
Knowledge of, and involvement with PAS data migration projects highly desirable
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of technical, non-technical, management and NHS staff plus other internal team within the business
Ability to organise and co-ordinate areas of work for yourself and others
Self-starter with great determination and motivation to succeed
Ability to influence, organise and plan
Ability to work within project constraints to ensure that milestones and delivery dates are met
Willingness to participate in team meetings and other company meetings.
Knowledge of network / communication standards, eg HTTPS
Knowledge of Java, Perl, OS scripting, XML, SQL, databases
Able to work away from home and willingness to travel
