Salary: Negotiable, depending on experience



The Technical Director is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Technical teams



including: Architecture (including Cloud Solution) Development, Testing, DevOps and Technical Services.

 

The Technical Director will ensure that the software, solutions and services are high quality, safe, secure, scalable, resilient, performant and delivered on time.

 

Essential is extensive knowledge and experience of:



·         All aspects of the UK healthcare domain

·         Common and emerging interoperability models including FHIR, IHE

·         Agile methodologies, processes and practices

·         Design and implementation of

·         Large scale mission critical systems

·         Multi-user database systems

·         Fault tolerant, scalable systems

·         Microservices and RESTful APIs

·         Interoperability standards including HL7, IHE and FHIR

·         Cloud architecture, services and systems

·         Secure software design

 

The Technical Director will be expected to fulfil the following duties:



·         Work with the CTO to implement the technical strategy and defined personal objectives

·         Ensure that solutions are secure by design and that teams are always working to best practices,

·         established standards and with a culture of continual improvement

·         Ensure good collaboration, interaction, and communication between the technical teams and the rest of the business

·         Lead, manage, and mentor the technical teams, continuously assessing whether the right skills are on board and appropriately allocated

·         Identify training needs and contribute to staff development through the specification, execution and evaluation of training plans in conjunction with the HR team

·         Constantly measure the productivity and performance of the technical teams, handling any technical or personnel issues firmly and efficiently

·         Establish and enforce working processes and practices that deliver high quality solutions

 

Person Specification:



·         University degree/equivalent level of academic achievement in a relevant technical subject such as Computer Science

·         At least 10 years of commercial experience architecting and/or developing enterprise solutions – a focus on interoperability using FHIR and IHE models will be a distinct advantage

·         Dynamic, motivated, proactive and hands-on individual who can demonstrate strong leadership and be a positive presence in the Technical Department

·         Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both oral and written

·         Approachable and practical individual who can work together with other department heads to

achieve the desired results

·         Ability to provide clear and strong leadership in terms of concrete ideas and actions

·         Extremely well organised and able to coordinate own workload and those of others

·         Ability to direct, influence, negotiate, delegate, motivate, organise and plan

·         Ability to work within project constraints to ensure that milestone and delivery dates are met

·         Ability to confidently present technical and non-technical subject matters to small and large audiences at all levels.
