Working as a member of the Enterprise Architecture team you will be expected to lead on certain products, deconstructing features to understand their complexities and redesign them around Sycero and Azure services.
You will support a number of Agile development teams in achieving the re-platforming, helping to document Feature Epics and take part in the story creation to ensure the adoption of standard patterns and practices.
Through guidance and advice, you will promote good engineering principles, best practices, and modern approaches to the introduction of new components, helping the transition to production through knowledge sharing and handovers with the SRE and Operations teams.
You will work closely with on-shore and off-shore development teams to ensure your designs are understood and managed through to successful delivery.
Experience:
· 2+ years use of Microsoft Azure services:
o App Service, App Gateway, Service Bus, Functions, Service Fabric, Containers
· Microservice design, using Swagger/OpenAPI
· Experience using Postman and other API test tools
Responsibilities:
· Take responsibility for leading the design activities for allocated projects, seeing them through from inception to delivery. Liaising with Product Managers and other significant stakeholders to ensure design requirements are clearly articulated, prioritised and able to be delivered as a sequence of objectives that achieve the intended vision over time
· Carry out deep dives into existing applications and modules to understand the required components
· Design and document services, endpoints and payloads necessary to support those requirements, incorporating Sycero components where available
· Define non-functional requirements and ensure all are considered as first-class citizens from the outset of any development:
o Security
o Performance
o High Availability
o Disaster recovery
· Work with the Software Architects and Platform Services teams to review and agree on patterns, approaches and implementations
· Involve SRE and Technical teams from an early stage to ensure compliance with their standards for a smooth transition into production
· Provide an internal point of escalation to help resolve defects and feed new requirements for features, tooling and management back into the design and development process
· Maintain a good understanding of all Alliance products, their technical implementation and consumed services in order to help drive continuous improvements in standards, design and performance
· Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability or reduce costs promote these opportunities with other Solution Architects and feed them into the Architectural Runway for development consideration
· Any other activities in support of the business which can reasonably be expected to fall within the capabilities of the employee
Base:
The role may require substantial travel, mainly between SCH offices and meeting venues but may also include customers and partner organisations. This may include international travel, in particular to liaise with off-shore development partners.
However, the role is essentially home based and will require significant utilisation of video and audio conferencing tools. In the pandemic circumstances the majority of roles have been executed almost entirely from employees homes. We cannot at this point predict how that will evolve but anticipate that the transition to remote working will be sustained on the whole.
