Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 pro rata PLUS 22 days holiday + bank holidays, workplace pension, death in service, BUPA
My client is expanding their Operations team hence the requirement for an Industrial Engineer to be responsible for maintaining, developing and optimising key processes.
This role will include safely reducing costs, improving quality, reducing machine resetting time, increasing capacity and reducing lead time.
You will be the on-site Industrial Engineer ensuring optimisation of the whole production line.
This role will report to the Operations Manager.
Qualifications
· A recognised Degree-level qualification in Industrial Engineering

· At least two years’ experience in manufacturing environment
· Critical thinker

· Analytical and problem-solving skills
· IT literate
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills
· Numerate
Desirables
· Experience in use of tools such as capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, process flow and block flow diagrams, cycle time analysis, Lean manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and line balancing.
Duties and responsibilities
Specific responsibilities
· Determine where efficiencies, waste reduction and optimisation can be made in product flow through production, quality and warehouse in terms of time, money, lead time reduction and space.
· Lead time reduction - shorten length of time from order entry to customer receipt, balance the production lines so bottlenecks reduced.
· Ensure use of freezer space is optimised for anticipated growth.
· Analyse process data and use Industrial Engineering / Process Engineering tools, to support innovation and continuous improvement activities, to determine root cause and corrective actions and provide other process insight.
· Technical support for the specification, purchase, installation and qualification of equipment as necessary.
· Ability and drive to develop new processes as required
· Help to train operations employees
· Liaise with management to investigate actual and potential risks/obsolescence and succession plans/improvement opportunities.
· Collaborate with cross functional teams to gain insight and direction.
· Offer support to decision making and problem solving with data driven evidence.
· Follow disciplined change control methods
· Write complete and comprehensive documentation including, engineering design documents and drawings, operating procedures and work instructions according to established quality management standards
· Apply Statistical Process Control and Lean Manufacturing principles.
· TPM, OEE, preventive/predictive maintenance, servicing, calibrations of equipment and facility as directed by Operations Manager
· All improvement proposals to be formally reported including feasibility, project cost estimates, timelines and expected benefits. Performance to be evaluated after implementation of action(s) to measure success.
· May require travel within Europe
General
· Adhere to all company policies, procedures ensuring that all processes and procedures comply with operational and statutory requirements
· Plan and manage internal communications and possess an awareness of corporate brand, direction, aims and activities
· Be vigilant of deficiencies in business operations and pass on any unresolved or continuing issues and recommendations to the Operations Manager
· Carry out any other duties necessary with a willingness to be flexible with working hours to respond to the needs of the company

· Working technical knowledge of work processes to be able to question activities or unexpected occurrences
· Approval of purchase requisition and transfer orders
· Budget control for department
· Continual improvement: seeking ideas from workforce and ensuring implementation of worthwhile suggestions

Job Title: Industrial Engineer – optimisation of production line
Location: Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire
Salary: £40,000 to £48,000 pro rata PLUS 22 days holiday + bank holidays, workplace pension, death in service, BUPA
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (additional hours may be required to meet business requirements)
Job Type: 9-month fixed term contract, potential to go permanent
