Our client is a software house providing clinical software solutions to the healthcare sector and is seeking a permanent Analytics Development Manager to expand the Population Health Analytics Team. This is a new role to manage multiple development teams as the division grows. The Population Health function is committed to improving the health of the United Kingdom via the use of innovative, integrated analytics as decision support for both clinicians and managers. The role will collaborate closely with all internal and customer stakeholders to build market leading Population Health solutions. The person will be required to take on a variety of analytics development team leadership tasks such as support escalation management, development line management, ensuring teams deliver work to agile sprints, quality of solutions and development processes / standards. The role will require the individual to be flexible and will involve some travel to office and customer sites. The Population Health Analytics Team works closely with the Shared Care Records, Remote Monitoring and Personal Health Record development teams following an Agile development methodology.
The current worldwide pandemic has proved that utilising timely data and insight can help save lives. The team deliver key elements of the National Immunisation System which has been key in the UK Government response to handling the pandemic. Their analytical solutions involve direct care decision support and case finding / monitoring programmes such as virtual wards and care at home. The Population health analytics team works at the forefront of the exciting transformation agenda within health and care, delivering
population analytics solutions that allow health and care organisations to plan health and care services based on the true needs of their populations.
The team are highly experienced and passionate about Population Health; using technology to help improve the health and care of the nation. This role provides the successful candidate the chance to be involved in Population Health Analytics programmes covering 18 million of the UK population.
The ideal candidate would have a combination of a strong analytics development background, line management experience combined with excellent interpersonal skills and a good analytical mind. Extensive experience of healthcare data would be an advantage.
The Role:
Key responsibilities:
· Development Manager for multiple agile development teams and products
· Ensuring delivery of Analytics software in sprints and product increments
· Ownership of all development processes and procedures
· Ensuring compliance with wider company policies such as ISO, security and Information governance within the development team e.g. supporting any audits or penetration testing
· Close liaison with the Product Manager, Product Director, Director of Analytics and Analytics Architects
· Line management of analytics developers and scrum masters as required
· Prioritisation of support and development tasks
· Ensuring software quality via development standards, peer review and rigorous QA processes
· Creation of Population Health Analytics software using the Microsoft Azure cloud toolkit
· Third line customer support of Analytics software
· Liaising with domestic and offshore development teams within the company and across the wider Alliance
Education, Experience & Skills
Required:
· Line management skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage, influence, negotiate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders with often conflicting priorities and requirements
· Practical experience and knowledge of Microsoft Azure data platform especially platform access and security
· 5+ years Business Intelligence or analytics development experience of using Microsoft SQL Server including:
o Writing advanced SQL
o ETL tools such as Azure Data Factory or Integration Services
· Skills in data storage design and development
· Working in a professional development environment using source control, agile development, coding standards and formal QA processes
· Experience of developing and enforcing standards, processes and procedures
· Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
· Demonstrable understanding of Scrum and Agile (SAFE) methodologies
Desirable:
· Knowledge of or work experience within health or social care informatics
· Product ownership and agile scrum master experience
· Practical experience of modern data visualisation tools e.g. Microsoft Power BI
· Experience of remote working in a geographically dispersed team
· Ability to select and use a range of services across the whole Microsoft Azure platform according to functional and architectural requirements
· Experience of working with customers to design analytics applications such as dashboards and reports
· Some experience in other development languages and technical standards such as Python, R, PowerShell JavaScript, JSON or C# .Net
Qualifications:
· A Bachelor’s Degree in related subject (desirable)
