Our client is a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of electronic musical instruments
The person we are looking for will:
· Perform analysis, design, development, adaption, testing and implementation of software mainly in PHP.
· Have the ability to effectively contribute and work in a team, guided by project documentation, such as; Use case descriptions, business process models, system requirements, etc.
· Write good, clean and optimised software modules, including testing and documentation, to a high standard using principles such as SOLID, DRY and adhering to internal guidelines and policies
· Test and modify systems to ensure that that they operate reliably, including fault finding, diagnosing and fixing.
· Provide technical support and respond to feedback.
· Provide input in technical discussions, to help determine the best solution.
Some Must Haves / Desirables
· At least 4+ years of commercial PHP experience within versions 7.4+
· Experience with supporting languages such as HTML, CSS, jQuery, JavaScript etc.
· Knowledge of MySQL including query optimisation, indexing and database interrogation.
· Experience with at least one of the following frameworks: Symfony, Slim, Zend or another appropriate and similar framework.
· Experience in using an ORM such as Doctrine or equivalent and the ability to build, test and optimise database queries within applications
· Team player - Proactive
· Whatever-it-takes approach - Be able to write high-quality object-orientated code conforming to numerous coding principles and standards such as SOLID / DRY and PSR
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills able to provide support and mentoring to less experienced members of the development team and share best practices
· Experience conducting meaningful code reviews
· Eye for detail and identifying problems/problem solving via a strong analytical mind
· Test new features in a shared development environment using realistic scenarios
· Maintain and manage IT systems documentation as a guidance for support and other developers
· Experience working in an agile software environment using tools such as SCRUM and Kanban
· Experience working with numerous other development tools such as GIT, Jenkins, CI / CD
· Ansible also advantageous
Key Duties:
Programming and Development
· Designing, developing and testing high quality software modules and full components in PHP (both legacy code bases and 7+) following best practices (SOLID OOP) and coding standards (PSR)
· Actively contributing to key internal business systems
· Developing integrations between systems in Europe and across the globe.
· Database design, programming and maintenance including optimisation of MySQL queries and architecture.
IT Planning & Execution
· Contributing to daily SCRUM meetings and monthly developers’ summits
· Preparing, developing and aligning with organisational vision and values
· Considering application security and measures for prevention of damage, data loss, access violation, etc.
· Log and manage workload tickets through planning system
· Develop according to agreed standards and tools (PSR, GIT, Agile methodologies etc.)
