My client offers the chance to play a key role in a growing Systems Development team within a very well established (100 years+) financial services institution who can offer great career progression and a strong benefits package. They are highly regarded and well-established and offer a fantastic working environment.
Due to expansion, they are looking for a Data Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis, to be responsible for deploying, integrating and supporting their reporting suite by creating bespoke MI reporting solutions. This position plays a key role in projects as part of a large-scale transformation programme and therefore offers excellent career opportunity and variety.
Must Haves
· 3+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer
· Experience of Data Warehousing projects
· Very strong communication skills
· Able to work well in a small team and work with all areas of the wider business
· Personality is key
If you have worked in financial services or have regulated experience, this would be a bonus.
Data Engineer – Requirements:
· Excellent experience working with PaaS and Azure SQL server, has solid scripting experience and experience of working with DBT.
· Ability to work through the whole SDLC (Software development lifecycle) including an understanding of pipeline deployments through Azure DevOps.
· Worked in an Agile environment and has a good understanding of unit testing.
· In depth understanding schema creation for databases, managing permissions.
· Able to create data transformations and data pipelines.
· Have worked on data ingestion (structured and unstructured data) from various sources such as blob storage, excel and others to SQL.
· Exceptional knowledge of at least one of the following relevant programming languages; Python and SQL and can work with Complex datasets.
· Experience working within a client-facing delivery focused role.
· High degree of hands-on technical guidance and/or vision with broad subject matter expertise in cloud, data, and security technologies, specifically Azure
· Self-motivated and organised person with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong interpersonal skills: role will require engagement with a varied and senior stakeholder base.
· Documentation skills to provide high quality documentation for internal customers and technical teams.
· Openness to learning and managing new technologies as business requirements change.
· C# programming skills (desirable)
· In addition, an exposure to Fivetran ELT, the ability to train and mentor junior staff and experience working in financial services would be a bonus.
Data Engineer - Responsibilities:
· Accurately estimate deliverables.
· Communicate with business stakeholders and interpret requirements into technical specifications.
· Support the ongoing maintenance of low-level design documents for Data Platforms.
· Assisting with preparations prior to, and during, any required IT health Checks.
· Assisting with preparations prior to, and during, any Technical Design Authority approvals.
· Creation and/or validation of Pipelines to support service level artifact promotion such as Power BI Dashboards.

Epsom, KT17 – You will be required to be on site for the first 6 weeks, hybrid working is available after this time (1-2 days a week on site).
