Salary: £20,000 to £27,000 DOE – 25 days PLUS 8 days bank holidays etc.
Job Purpose
To provide direct support to the International Freight Forwarding business in all aspects of commercial activities including but not limited to tender management, marketing activities, rate procurement, network support activity, reporting & sales support. To provide support to the Commercial Analyst as and when required.
Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills & Experience – including technical competencies
• Ocean Freight knowledge & rate negotiation experience essential
• Confident and professional telephone manner and communication skills
• Excellent customer service skills
• Attention to detail
• Ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workload
• Flexibility
• PC Skills - Excel – must be proficient, Word and PowerPoint
Principle Accountabilities/Tasks
Tender Management
• Own cradle to grave RFQ co-ordination process
• Receive RFQs & check all required info has been supplied
• Asses best route for RFQ to be processed through (local/RHQ) & distribute
accordingly
• Initiate local pricing activity if required
• Monitor progress of RFQs
• Co-ordinate bi-annual RFQ pipeline submissions for the RHQ BD process in cooperation with Sales
• Support Commercial Analyst as and when required
Marketing Activities
• Develop, maintain & distribute UK IFF product sheets
• Highlight any IFF activities that may be relevant to group marketing for external promotion
• Support Commercial Analyst as and when required
Local Procurement
• Develop & maintain local carrier contacts for day to day pricing
• Engage with carriers at a strategic level for long term/RFQ pricing when required
• Join & contribute to carrier meetings whenever possible
• Review carrier fixed costs & maintain surcharge matrices
Network Activity
• Respond with bespoke pricing as and when required for non-FHD RFQ and spot rate opportunities (delegating to ops if necessary)
• Liaise with other regions whenever possible in order to strengthen the network and develop potential opportunities
• Support Commercial Analyst as and when required
Commercial Reporting
• Support Commercial Analyst as and when required
Sales Process & information sharing
• Standardise & maintain rate quote templates
• Set main terms & conditions to be included in all offers
• Establish best practice for division of spot rate quoting responsibility
Sales Support
• Support external sales team with the creation of rate quotes as and when required
• Support external sales team with carrier service info as and when required
• Generate & distribute sales tools as and when required such as promotional product sheets
• Produce the weekly sales statistics report
