Responsible to:Works Manager / Production Supervisors
Main objective:
· To support DVSA and VOSA in conducting MOT’s on HGV & PSV’s within the site and running the inspection lane. To ensure that post fitting quality inspections are carried out on all completed vehicles in accordance with sales and engineering paperwork, prior to leaving the production/fitting process, and that pre-delivery inspection, including completion of all paperwork/plating and relevant documentation including utility equipment is checked and tested before collection by the customer/contractor
Essential Criteria:
· NVQ’s, City & Guilds or Higher in Automotive Mechanic
· 6 to 9 years automotive mechanical experience (HGV)
· CE Driver’s License & CPC desirable
· Experience with MOT Eqpt (RBT, Smoke, Light and Shaker)
· Knowledge of the MOT process and commercial vehicle repairs
Responsibilities:
· Working with and presenting vehicles to the VOSA Examiner during Inspections
· Pre-examination of vehicles before test day and rectification work during inspection
· Movement of vehicles between contractors and employer sites, ensuring that vehicles movements to and from Factory 3 support production plans.
· Periodic servicing of vehicles.
· Ensure vehicle inspection is carried out in accordance with the relevant inspection paperwork, noting all defects and raising the appropriate Non-Conformance Report paperwork.
· Check drawing and measurements in accordance with sales specifications and engineering documentation, prior to vehicle inspection.
· Liaise with purchasing regarding any vehicle part required for pre-test repairs.
· Identification and repair of faults in vehicles, machine components and systems.
· Correct use of tools and equipment.
· Ensure vehicles are locked and secure at end of each day
· Ensure all Inspection lane materials are stored and secure at the end of each day.
· Maintain personal, public, and workplace cleanliness to protect against all hazards to themselves and all others.
· To maintain and develop relations with customers and clients.
· To work within the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act
· Any other work as required by Management, which is commensurate with the responsibilities of the post.
