Salary: DOE to £65,000 + Car & Benefits
Gained within the construction sector, the following experience is required:
Senior level operational experience working with diverse teams
Senior level executive in construction
Understanding of running Test laboratories/ departments
Testing of construction products
Experience of managing and leading a diverse portfolio of services/activities
Experience of building effective senior level/executive and client relationships
Successful management of budgets/operations within a commercial organization
A successful track record of developing and meeting key targets in the area of performance management
Managing and leading a small business unit or SME
Knowledge of developing strategy and business plans
Good understanding of operational and financial management
Performance of management of resources
Delivering against targets and goals
Building and delivering business plans
Highly computer literate
Strong numeracy skills
Effective team worker
Strong negotiator and influencer
Strategic aptitude and creative thinking
Outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to motivate, lead with courage
Excellent communication skills at all levels both written and verbal
Ability to handle high levels of pressure and to work to tight deadlines

Purpose of Job
The Business Head is responsible for the complete remit of the specific business unit from financial and operational accountability through to client management, quality of services and resources. You will be held accountable for the performance of the Business Unit as you will be running all aspects within this area. Your responsibilities will include business and strategy planning, resourcing and leading your teams and you will have complete P&L responsibility. Your primary goal will be to grow and strengthen the business without compromising integrity and quality. You will also be expected to provide essential leadership to the unit as well as collaborate effectively with other business units within the organisation.
Within this role you will be expected to have a good knowledge of construction testing services/ activities, be capable of managing diverse teams of competent test technicians to meet agreed levels of productivity whilst continually meeting exacting technical quality. The job holder will work with the quality manager to ensure continual compliance with recognized industry accreditations for existing and any new standards, keeping up to date with legislation and standard changes and maintaining all related working procedure and quality manuals. You will be expected to create a commercial, client-centric, technically excellent department that is innovative and self-sustaining.
