Description


Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 doe

 

Essential:



  • Internal auditing


  • Construction related H&S


  • OHSAS 18001 management system


  • Knowledge and expertise covering the full range of H&S legislation


  • NEBOSH diploma


  • Auditing qualification


  • Good general level of education


  • 5 years’ experience in a similar role


  • Undertaking Risk Assessments, COSHH assessments, Fire Assessments.


  • Experience of planning and delivering H&S training


  • Undertaking work based risk assessments, H&S inspections and audits.


  • Able to plan and schedule own workload


  • Able to work unsupervised


  • Commitment to CPD


  • Disciplined approach to work and able to prioritise workloads


  • Ability to identify and analyse issues and develop effective solutions, an investigative mind.


  • Ability to work collaboratively


Desirable



  • Certification industry


  • Working in a construction/testing environment


  • Face fit testing


  • Membership of a n appropriate professional body e.g. IOSH.


Purpose:

To support, advise and co-ordinate Health and Safety (H&S) activities throughout the organisation.  The job holder will be expected to establish, manage and monitor standards, processes, communications, training and systems to ensure all responsibilities associated with Health and Safety are adhered to. You will be required to work closely with the Test business unit as well as oversee relevant activities for remote working.

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

Policy Duties



  • Review and update the H&S policy and manual as required to ensure continued compliance with legislation.


  • Undertake a programme of H&S internal audits across the business at a rate of one per month.


  • Maintain and update the Company’s action log.


  • Compile regular H&S reports and statistics for interested parties.


  • Update and review the Business Contingency plan


  • Attend regular H&S meetings with the various business units.


  • Chair the H& S committee meeting, producing and publishing full meeting notes.


  • Maintain and update the H&S risk register.


  • Undertake regular staff H&S questionnaires.


  • OHSAS18001 decision maker and undertake a competency programme for assessors.


Audit and Risk Assessment



  • Undertake new and expectant mother risk assessments.


  • Maintain accident records and statistics across the business.


  • Undertake health surveillance requirement assessments and co-ordinate health surveillance where identified as a requirement.


  • Schedule and undertake H&S inspections and checks across the business.


  • Undertake respiratory protection face fit tests for respiratory protection users across the business.


  • Undertake investigations of accidents, incidents, road traffic accidents and near miss incidents.


  • Undertake COSHH risk assessments and update the substance register as appropriate


  • Undertake and review general, equipment specific (existing and new) and process specific risk assessment across the Company.


  • Undertake overseas business travel assessments.


  • Undertake and review lone worker risk assessments and guidance documents.


  • Undertake fire risk assessments for all buildings across the site.


  • Undertake assessment of work stations and display screen equipment (DSE).


  • Oversee all statutory inspections including lift equipment, LEV equipment, machinery, electrical testing etc.


Other duties



  • Plan coordinate and undertake training, external and internal on relevant aspects of H&S, including fire safety.


  • Conduct H&S inductions as and when required for new starters and where staff move roles.


  • Update the H&S intranet page as and when required.


  • Update annually or in light of new information or change the Emergency Grab Packs.


  • Organise and co-ordinate Fire warden and First Aid/defibrillator staff across the site.


  • Oversee H&S issues for the office in Dublin.


  • Co-ordinate the Company’s eye care voucher scheme.


  • Liaise with facilities team and cleaners where there is an issue or breakdown.


  • Run awareness campaigns on relevant topics.
