Hourly rate: £15.12




The role is within the Insurance Section which manages all aspects of insurable risk on behalf of three different Council's, arranging the purchase of insurance or the management of internally funded risks and managing all claims made by and against Council departments.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS






  • Capable of quickly cutting through evidence and forming decisions on liability and communicating these in clear and concise terms in accordance with internal procedures


  • Experience of handling liability claims predominantly made by claimants in person

Understanding of highways / local government liability



The team is responsible for the management of approximately 2300 claims per annum ranging from minor motor vehicle accidents to complex litigation cases in respect of allegations of abuse in care. The majority of claims relate to Highway related accidents for damage to vehicles or personal injury suffered by the residents and visitors to the Counties.



There is the potential for a large amount of commuting as the role will be providing claims management services across 3 locations.



The post holder will provide a high quality claims management service. The role is to ensure robust, efficient management of claims received.



Ensuring that all claims within individual workload are managed in accordance with protocols, insurer requirements and service level agreements the post holder will be required to monitor and manage progress of claims ensuring that critical deadlines are met.



The post holder will be responsible for undertaking full and thorough investigations on liability claims including injury losses, material damage and motor claims. Some cases will involve site inspections/investigations and meetings, these could take place at Council establishments, on the highways or infrequently at claimants/representatives properties.

Job Type: Initial 3 month, likely to extend



Hours of work: 9.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday
