Salary £30,000 -£32,000 doe
Purpose of the role
The role of the Technical Writer is to produce well written, industry relevant, technically accurate articles, letters and white papers in compliance with the agreed house-style. The job holder will be expected to write in-depth features and exclusive news stories on various topics relating to construction sector changes ensuring accuracy and terminology.
Key Competencies Technical:
Construction industry experience
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Excellent writing skills for varying market
Knowledge of construction, inspection and testing industry sector
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office and other relevant software packages
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Strong editing and proof-reading skills
Main Duties/Responsibilities
Sourcing exclusive news stories and writing in-depth features on topics spanning construction sector changes, testing, audit, inspection, Government policy etc.
Planning, scheduling and delivering technical documentation to support new products and initiatives.
Using internal templates, standards and our in-house style guide to develop clear, reusable content.
Thinking about the best way to improve the docs user experience and making a strong contribution to team projects and events.
Championing the role and importance of documentation within the organisation and community.
Convey technical ideas, concepts and procedures in clear, concise and accurate English, using consistent and correct terminology.
Manipulate text and images to create well-structured, documentation that is easily absorbed by the different target audiences.
Gather information by studying existing technical content, interviewing subject matter experts and sometimes interacting with the product/ service directly.
Create or commission photographs or illustrations.
Proof read and edit as necessary all documentation produced, to ensure complete accuracy of content and presentation prior to distribution.
Follow requirements to ensure that documentation meets all requirements for compliance with industry and international standards and directives.
Maintain the accuracy of all technical publication databases/records by amending them as required, to ensure compliance with all required standards
