Our client is a software development company that provides solutions to the healthcare market and they are seeking a talented and enthusiastic individual to join their Product team as a Technical Author.
As a Technical Author, you will be responsible for writing specialist information about our products, services and processes. Working with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation, you will need to create and maintain internal and customer facing documentation including release notes, user guides and technical specifications. Maintaining a customer library is also a key part of this role.
The role will require a person with excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and a methodical and proactive approach.
Experience in the healthcare market is highly advantageous
Duties & Responsibilities:
· Research, absorb and understand the product portfolio
· Produce and maintain detailed system and/or technical documents such as; System Documentation, Release Notes, Configuration Guides, User Manuals etc.
· Maintain accurate and up to date documentation, document standards and document templates
· Work closely with the Product and Development departments to clarify technical designs, keep abreast of changes and document accordingly
· Support the business by managing all queries regarding documentation and solutions where applicable
· Keep relevant staff and teams informed of all current documentation activities
· Create/input to presentations for use by other areas of the business (e.g. Sales and Marketing)
· Administer the documentation repository and Customer Library ensuring that it is accessible to those that need it
· Ensure all content is relevant, up to date and organised so that it is easily accessible by the relevant teams
· Facilitate effective communication between members of the teams through various media channels e.g., Confluence, OneDrive, SharePoint and instant messaging etc.
· Meeting colleagues to discuss technology and authoring requirements
· Deciding how best to organise and present the document/other materials
· Commissioning any photographs or illustrations required
· Writing the material clearly and concisely, making sure it can be easily understood.
· Editing, proofreading and indexing

· To ensure the subject is understood thoroughly, technical authors must work closely with colleagues such as engineers or developers. They may also liaise with printers, translators and other suppliers to prepare the finished document
· In addition to the above, the Technical Author is responsible for any other activities in support of the business which can reasonably be expected to fall within the capabilities of the employee
Education, Experience & Skills:
· Excellent English is essential
· Degree educated (Desirable)
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· A clear and concise writing style
· Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage, influence, negotiate and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels in the business
· Self-starter, highly proactive and assertive in a demanding and dynamic environment
· Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role focussing on IT products and commercial applications and relevant IT skills
· Knowledge of Healthcare and/or Clinical systems (Desirable)
· A proven track record of writing documents for software applications and can research, absorb and interpret complex information
· Ability to fulfil and deliver on projects as requested by your Manager in a timely manner
· A flair for turning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text
· The ability to absorb information quickly
· An analytical mind and an inquisitive nature
· A curiosity about how things work
· An eye for detail, and a thorough and methodical approach
· The ability to deliver to deadline
· A well-organised approach, to juggle different projects
· Team-working skill
