Salary: up to £60,000 + benefits
Our client consists of UK companies with common ownership who work together in a strategic alliance to provide integrated solutions across health and social care.
Together they employ 800 people and are united in our commitment to helping the NHS and social care providers meet the agenda of the NHS Long Term Plan - transforming services to meet existing and unmet demands, using technology and data to target care where it is most needed and provide joined up patientcentred services, and improving outcomes.
They provide and manage the technology for NIMS, the National Immunisation Programme delivering the flu and Covid-19 vaccination programmes. With over 350,000 users, the Care Alliance companies also provide market-leading solutions in each of their markets, including acute electronic patient record systems, child health systems, adult and children’s social care software, education, shared care record and population health software.
Following the government announcement of a new structure of Integrated Care Systems operating at national level, the Care Alliance is looking to appoint a single lead to head up strategic communications and PR activity across the Alliance and for each of the constituent entities.
This is a senior role reporting to the joint CEO
Responsibilities:
· Develop and implement a communications strategy that underpins the Care Alliance’s wider
· strategy – reflecting its vision and business plans for growth
· Develop and implement a communications strategy for constituent members of the Care Alliance – reflecting their own specific business and strategic objectives, but ensuring they remain consistent with the over-arching Care Alliance approach
· Oversee and advise on timely communications and Public Relations activity
· Recognise potential risks, issues or sensitivities that could adversely impact the Care Alliance, advising the Board and senior leaders on mitigation and responsive action
· Lead crisis communications in support of any major and serious incidents and critical issues
· Provide a press office function that provides prompt responses to media enquiries or to direct enquiries appropriately
· Build relationships with local and trade media outlets, tailoring content appropriately
· Collaborate and work closely with the director of marketing to ensure that effort is co-ordinated and strategic and that campaigns are effective, with the use of all content maximised across channels
· Direct line management responsibility for the communications manager
· Responsibility for ensuring that the wider strategy is communicated effectively through internal channels
· Work with senior leaders to make sure the workforce is informed and involved with a transparent culture for staff
· Evaluate the effectiveness of our communications activity and implement innovative approaches
Experience:
The post holder must have:
· A communications qualification or equivalent experience and knowledge
· Evidence of continued professional development
· Extensive hands-on experience (at a senior level) within a communications function
· Broad experience of working with the media. Journalism experience desirable
· Good strategic understanding
· Experience of planning and executing effective communications strategies
· An interest and understanding of NHS and local government structures, government policy and the current issues
· Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a broader team
· Experience of line management desirable
