Salary: £17,500 + 25% uplift when you join the 24/7 shift rota – Initial training (likely to last up to 6 months) will be 9.00am – 5.30pm with some shift rota shadowing for training purposes also – See Below



The Technical Services Team are responsible for the design, installation and support for all hardware platforms, operating systems, database management, Application integration, and associated layered products to Internal and External customers of the Group of companies.

 

The Junior Technical Support Consultant will work alongside specialists within the Technical Services Teams and will be trained in all aspects of the team’s work. The suitable candidate will be provided with on-the-job and formal industry training for all supported hardware, operating systems, databases, and applications.

 

Skills and Experience:

 

A background and interest in computing is essential along with good written and oral presentation skills, ideally the candidate will have had some experience or exposure to Microsoft Operating systems, with any experience of the following beneficial.

 

·         Server Operating Systems

·         Cloud Computing

·         Virtualisation

·         Databases

·         Network Concepts

·         Scripting

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The Junior Technical Support Consultant will develop a basic knowledge and understanding of the technologies required to deploy our current and new software products as well as a wider understanding of server, database, storage, and networking technologies.

 

The main requirements of the role are:

 

·         Provision of Technical Service Desk Support to Internal and External Customers

·         Management and Monitoring of hardware and applications

·         Implementation of Patching and Firmware Upgrades

·         Adherence to Company and Team policies and working practices.

·         May be required to work at other Company Sites, Customer sites or Datacentres

 

As the position is for an entry level role it is expected that duties will expand over time to match experience, most of the initial work will be performed alongside a mentor before moving to a more independent role as experience and skills develop.

 

The successful candidate will work on a 6-week rotating shift pattern and will alternate between a conventional Mon – Fri Day shift and a 24/7 shift which will include evenings, nights, and some weekends. A shift allowance will be paid for the 24/7 shift, Full details regarding this and the working patterns will be provided at the interview phase.
