General Description:
A fantastic opportunity to gain life long skills by becoming a skilled, coded welder.
A permanent role with paid for attendance at college included.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete a weld test to BS EN standards as a requirement for employment.
For your information, the following is the job description for a qualified welder which you can become:
It is skilled work which demands a standard of competence equal or equivalent to NVQ level 2 welding, or similar mechanical qualification.
Necessitating either an apprenticeship to a trade or recognised training programme where an employee is required to be fully qualified in all parts of the trade and capable of producing work to the required standards, specification or finish expected of a craftsman.
· Includes welding of structural components on vehicles using various methods.
· Equipment used includes MIG welders but also Oxyacetylene and plasma cutters.
· Work is completed to recognised industry standards.
· The work required includes cutting out sections, preparing the work area and welding in structural components by following verbal and written instructions.
You will be required to perform defined tasks to written instructions and be able to work on your own initiative to enable the depot to provide a quality service to the business.
Responsibilities:
· Work as directed by your Line Manager or team leader
· Undertake all tasks of own trade and noncore activities of other dissimilar trades and maybe required instructing others
· Ability to prioritise own work
· Advise and inform of any defects found in the course of your duties
· Complete necessary paperwork according to Depot Procedures and adhere to such procedures
· Ensure that work is completed in a clean and tidy manner
· Take care of all working property and handle it in a safe working manner, ensuring it is returned to its proper location
· Deliver and be responsible for quality of work undertaken and to required standards
· Non-core activity may require checking to ensure it meets required standards
· Input of data (IT)
· Follow and work to all site safety standards and rules
· Follow all work to all technical instructions
