Salary: £48,000 - £60,000 + Excellent benefits
This new management role is to create, develop and grow a new product andembedded systems engineering team based at my clients’ headquarters inSedgefield, County Durham.
Your team have responsibility for taking proven design conceptsthrough all product development stages to final release for manufacture. The team also has responsibility for the preparation of test procedures formanufacture and undertaking all qualification testing as well as product anddesign documentation.
Summary:
You will lead an engineering team working on a range of radiation basedinstrument designs with particular focus on embedded system design andintegration of new products. The team will work with other engineering teamsin the business which focus on radiation detection technologies.
You will be:
· An experienced electronics engineer with a broad knowledge of electronicinstrumentationdesign and integration
· A manager with proven experience of technical team management
· Experienced in the full product development cycle
· Able to find creative solutions to a wide range of technical challenges
· Able to make and enact decisions with established engineering teams whilealso being open to new ways of working
Essential skills and experience:
· Experience of the leadership of technical teams with the abilityto lead decisively while giving team members freedom to work effectively
· Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation and also withcustomers and to inspire confidence
· Very sound knowledge of a wide range of electronics topics, particularlyfocussed on embedded instrumentation
· Must include front end signal processing; signal acquisition; embedded processor design including simple microcontrollers, ARM based processors and applications processors; a range of Communications protocols including RF comms; system status monitoring and control algorithms
· Recent experience of firmware development for microcontroller based andalso embeddedOS solutions
· Experience of FPGA design including HDL coding. A hands-on approach totechnical management
· Able to discuss designs and firmware with the team in detail and demonstratebest engineering practice
· Experience of new product introduction of electronic products
The skill set of the team would need to include:
· Electronics Design, including FPGA design
· Embedded Design, including both hardware design and firmware
· development Test Engineering
· Product Characterisation testing
· Compliance Testing
· The team would take the proven technology demonstrators from technologyteams, produce a fully tested, qualified and documented product design andthen pass this on to the Manufacturing team within the organisation (or outsidemanufacturer)
