Salary: £50,000 to £60,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits
As IT Business Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of Business Services (new projects, upgrades, transformation, on-boarding acquisitions, etc.), ensuring high quality, consistent, professional, stable and effective project activity is delivered to the consumers of IT (staff) and transitioned effectively into Business as Usual (BaU) IT Service though a defined and agreed handover process that shall include, but not be limited to:
• Detailed project documentation – to agreed standards
• Known error reports (if relevant)
• Training materials (if used for consumer handover)
• Effective skills transfer
• Vendor engagement (if required)
• Sub-contract information (if required)
• Early Life Support (ELS)
Qualifications:
It would be an advantage to be ITIL Foundation & / OR PRINCE2 certified, together with a good knowledge of Hybrid cloud services (Public, SaaS & Private)
Essential skills:
• Proven experience in IT leadership and strategic thinking in a medium / large organisation.
• Strong customer focus and excellent communication skills at all levels
• Ability to assess, describe, develop and promote business change (e.g. standards and process) supported by the adoption of appropriate technology
• Ability to define and set business IT strategy and identify technological road maps that support business aspirations and outcomes
• Ability to write an appropriate business case to support a technology investment, including ROI and SMART measures.
• Ability to define and oversee a meaningful project plan (including measures that define success)
Responsibilities:
The role of the IT Business Manager is to deliver effective project related activities to a previously defined standard/agreed scope, to budget and achieving the agreed returns for any investment. All Business Services activities are likely to be delivered utilising non-BAU support staff which may include the management of 3rd party partners as well as any internal resources used.
The IT Business Manager must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills. The holder must be able to communicate at all levels within and outside of the business, setting expectations of consumers where required, and ensure that services from all parties are delivered efficiently to defined expectations. Any variation to scope (scope creep) must be documented and agreed by the budget holder or executive sponsor to ensure variations are known and communicated effectively.
The IT Business Manager is responsible for providing the leadership, governance and control in the execution of project related activities, including but not limited to:
• New IT Services
• Technology upgrades/transitions/transformation
• On-boarding acquisitions - Execution of any activity shall include defining, documenting and agreeing with the IT Service Manager the criteria for acceptance and handing over from project activity into BaU Service/support.
• The IT Business Manager will also focus on the identification of business “needs” and efficiency opportunities that can be realised though digital transformation. This requires engagement with Partners, Stakeholders and Line Managers to understand and discuss current operating methodologies, challenge established thinking and identify opportunity for change. All proposals made to the IT Partner must be costed with an ROI and SMART measures.
