Salary: £50,000 + 25 days holiday, 8 bank holiday days and an additional day near Christmas + Pensions, Insurance, Bonus and LOTS more
As software product owner, you are the owner of a portfolio of applications and it is your duty to ensure your portfolio delivers value to the company. In order to achieve this you need to understand and know how to keep the system on, supporting practitioners across the country and drive your portfolio to deliver perceived value to the business.
To support your goals, you have company infrastructure, which you can tap on knowledge and expertise in the most different team’s domains to drive innovation forward.
The leadership is offering you this incredible opportunity; however, we believe that to make most of it, we are looking for evidence of strong grip on the following skills:
Project Management – Understand what project management is, feel comfortable with the PM structure and controls, be able to manage small projects up to £30k.
Product Ownership – Understand what agile is, be able to structure work in Agile form, its artefacts, product roadmap and map progress in agile approaches.
Requirement gathering – To be able to listen what your stakeholders want and to be able to work as SME for the 22,000 practitioners that utilizes your software. Translate their need into technical specifications.
Vendor relationships – In your journey you can rely not only on internal teams, but also on vendor teams which you need to keep both an eye on then and build lasting relationships.
Service Management – You are accountable for not only the products you support but also the IT service it provides to the firm. This means you need to have awareness of KPIs, metrics, and understanding on how to escalate issues to the suppliers when required.
In addition to the items listed above, any certifications in Prince2, Agile, and ITIL are beneficial.
You will require the skills listed below to be successful in this position:
· Technical Project Management exposure (small projects)
· Agile Exposure
· Requirement gathering either with user stories or functional specifications
· Understanding of process diagrams / workflows
· Stakeholder management
· Exposure to software development
· Willingness to learn
· Exposure to vendor management
· Taste for being a generalist, which can understand from technical frameworks and architectures up to business processes. From software development concepts to basic network skills. From project management to service management approaches
· Proactive, balancing the drive to move forward with communication skills
· Interest to be the Subject Matter Expert for a number of applications, understanding the tools under your portfolio and the business impact they generate
· Awareness of ITIL framework as we are an Application Management team
The following skills/certifications will impress:
· Business Analysis certification is a plus
· Project Management certification is a plus
· Agile certification is a plus
· ITIL exposure and Certification is a plus
· Some experience in support is a plus
· Experience with Software development is a plus
· BA (Hons) Business Studies or similar
